Description: An Internal Medicine Physician, or Internist, specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases in adults, without using surgery. They are often the primary care provider for adults and coordinate care with other specialists when needed. Their role involves a wide range of responsibilities, from managing chronic conditions to addressing acute illnesses.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in biology, physical sciences, or a related field.
Doctor of medicine (MD) degree or a doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO) degree.
3 to 7 years’ internship and clinical residency training, specializing in internal medicine.
Successful completion of the Internal Medicine Certification Examination.
Valid and active medical license in the state you wish to practice.
