Description: An Internal Medicine Physician, or Internist, is a doctor specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of adult medical conditions. They provide comprehensive care, manage chronic diseases, and may refer patients to specialists when needed. Their duties include conducting physical exams, ordering and interpreting tests, prescribing treatments, and counseling patients on preventative care.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in biology, physical sciences, or a related field.
Doctor of medicine (MD) degree or a doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO) degree.
3 to 7 years’ internship and clinical residency training, specializing in internal medicine.
Successful completion of the Internal Medicine Certification Examination.
