Description: An Orthopedic Spine Surgeon diagnoses and treats spinal disorders and injuries through both surgical and non-surgical methods. They perform surgeries on the spine, manage post-operative pain and recovery, and work in both hospital and private practice settings. They also collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in biology, physical sciences, or a related field.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
4 to 7 years’ internship and residency training, specializing in orthopedic surgery.
Successful completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination of the United States (COMLEX-USA).
Certification by The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in orthopedic surgery and/or a subspecialty, such as sports medicine, reconstructive surgery, trauma, or pediatrics.
